Major Micro- and Nanotechnologies in Biophysics

Kierunek Mikro- i Nanotechnologie w biofizyce zorientowany jest na kształcenie w zakresie technologii, rozumianej jako ogół procesów związanych z wytwarzaniem, charakteryzacją i modelowaniem właściwości materiałów o rozmiarach sub-mikronowych. Materiały takie znajdują coraz szersze zastosowanie w nowoczesnej inżynierii (bio)materiałowej, ochronie środowiska, a także w różnych gałęziach przemysłu (m.in.: elektronicznego, energetycznego, farmaceutycznego, medycznego, spożywczego). Absolwenci kierunku mogą starać się o pracę w różnorodnych branżach, dla których istotą działania jest m.in. przetwórstwo materiałów, mechanika precyzyjna, optyka, elektronika, kontrola struktury materii na poziomie molekularnym, otrzymywanie cienkich warstw oraz mikro- i/lub nano- (bio)struktur o zadanych własnościach (np. elektrycznych, magnetycznych, optycznych, mechanicznych, redoksowych, antyoksydacyjnych) w celu wytwarzania (bio)sensorów i (bio)nośników, praca z urządzeniami wysokiej próżni, obsługa zaawansowanej aparatury do badań fizycznych i/lub chemicznych czy też modelowanie i umiejętności informatyczne. W większości są to oczekiwania pracodawców wobec zawodu nanotechnologa, w Polsce wprowadzonego w 2015 r. Obecnie zapotrzebowanie pracodawców, również zagranicznych, znacznie przewyższa liczbę pracowników z takimi kwalifikacjami, co potwierdzają targi przemysłowe ITM Polska, które pokazują, że zawód nanotechnolog jest deficytowy. Kierunek wychodzi naprzeciw rosnącym i zmiennym potrzebom innowacyjnego sektora biznesowego oraz naukowego skupionego wokół nanotechnologii i zaawansowanych technologii, do których zaliczają się m.in. nanomateriały, nanoelektronika, nanofotonika, nanobiotechnologie, czy nanomedycyna, nanofarmacja, wpisujące się w zakres Krajowych Inteligentnych Specjalizacji.
