Celem kształcenia na kierunku Inżynieria Metali Nieżelaznych jest wypromowanie kadry inżynierskiej na potrzeby polskiego przemysłu branży metali nieżelaznych, w szczególności w zakresie szeroko rozumianej inżynierii materiałowej obejmującej zaawansowane procesy odlewania, zaawansowane procesy metalurgii proszków, zaawansowanej i niekonwencjonalnej przeróbki plastycznej, obróbki cieplnej oraz nowoczesnych metod obróbki powierzchniowej materiałów. Absolwent tego kierunku jest przygotowany do podjęcia pracy zawodowej we wszystkich krajowych i zagranicznych zakładach przemysłowych projektowania i przetwórstwa metali nieżelaznych, laboratoriach i instytutach badawczych, działach R&D oraz jednostkach naukowo-dydaktycznych.
Absolwent studiów II stopnia kierunku Inżynieria Metali Nieżelaznych może kontynuować kształcenie na studiach III stopnia na kierunkach Inżynieria materiałowa i pokrewnych, związanych z dyscypliną inżynieria materiałowa oraz inżynieria mechaniczna.
