Computer Science in Engineering

Celem kształcenia na kierunku Informatyka Techniczna jest przekazanie wiedzy i umiejętności niezbędnych do tworzenia i wykorzystywania systemów komputerowych znajdujących bezpośrednie zastosowanie w przemyśle. Dlatego też przekazana wiedza i umiejętności mają dotyczyć tak podstaw teoretycznych – matematycznych, fizycznych, informatycznych, jak i aspektów praktycznych – projektowania i implementacji systemów komputerowych, administracji systemami, analizy danych eksperymentalnych, wykorzystania gotowych narzędzi softwarowych, w tym aplikacji komercyjnych oraz oprogramowania otwartego. Absolwent kierunku może podejmować pracę jako informatyk specjalista od zastosowań technologicznych, ponieważ jego wiedza obejmuje również materiał dydaktyczny metalurgii oraz inżynierii materiałowej. W zespołach może w szczególności pełnić role wymagające zaawansowanej wiedzy informatycznej (tworzenie i analiza algorytmów oraz programów, implementacja – odwzorowanie algorytmów na sprzęt komputerowy, w tym sprzęt równoległy wysokiej wydajności) i matematycznej (tworzenie i analiza modeli matematycznych i numerycznych, szacowanie błędów obliczeń, ocena ryzyka oraz właściwości statystycznych i stochastycznych problemów i rozwiązań). W czasach, gdy wspomaganie rozmaitych procesów decyzyjnych i projektowych odbywa się coraz częściej przy użyciu zaawansowanych narzędzi informatycznych, absolwent posiada cenne umiejętności oceny proponowanych przez systemy informatyczne rozwiązań. Potrafi także modyfikować sposób działania systemów informatycznych poprzez odpowiedni dobór danych wejściowych, a także ewentualne modyfikacje samych systemów lub ich konfiguracji. Dzięki wiedzy z rozmaitych dziedzin nauki i techniki posiada umiejętności tworzenia poprawnych merytorycznie modeli obliczeniowych oraz właściwej oceny wyników pod kątem ich zgodności z rzeczywistymi zjawiskami i procesami. Jest także przygotowany do podjęcia pracy jako wysoko wykwalifikowany programista lub administrator systemów informatycznych.
Istnieje możliwość kontynuacji kształcenia na kierunku Informatyka Techniczna II stopnia.
