Materials Science
Program kierunku Inżynieria Materiałowa na II stopniu studiów został ułożony w taki sposób, aby przekazać studentom wiedzę z zakresu szeroko rozumianej i aktualnej inżynierii materiałowej. Absolwenci uzyskują poszerzoną wiedzę w zakresie materiałów inżynierskich takich jak materiały ceramiczne, polimerowe, kompozytowe, półprzewodnikowe itp. Absolwenci znajdują zatrudnienie między innymi w przedsiębiorstwach zajmujących się projektowaniem, wytwarzaniem, przetwarzaniem i zastosowaniem materiałów o specjalnych własnościach dla potrzeb nowoczesnych dziedzin przemysłu, w biurach projektowych, jednostkach kontroli jakości, laboratoriach badawczo-kontrolnych i jednostkach naukowych, jako niezależni konsultanci w zakresie projektowania, wytwarzania, przetwarzania i zastosowania materiałów. Gałęziami przemysłu w kierunku których dedykowany jest program studiów, to wszelkie branże przetwarzające i stosujące materiały i tworzywa o specjalnych własnościach użytkowych, opartych na technologiach materiałów takich jak kompozyty, biomateriały, nanomateriały, materiały dla elektroniki, materiały dla ochrony przed korozją i dla ochrony środowiska, jak i również w branży motoryzacyjnej, lotniczej, budowlanej, chemicznej, kosmetycznej. Program kierujemy również do studentów którzy pragną działać w ramach własnej działalności gospodarczej w zakresie projektowania i zastosowania materiałów. Do najważniejszych firm, z którymi współpracuje WIMiC należą m.in SGL Group – The Carbon Company, Zakłady Porcelany Elektrotechnicznej „Zapel”, Ceramika Paradyż, Zakłady Magnezytowe „Ropczyce”, Huta Szkła „Pilkington Polska”, Cementownia „Ożarów”, Grupa Lafarge, Górażdże Cement, Cemex Polska, Ferrocarbo, Polskie Fabryki Porcelany „Ćmielów” i „Chodzież”, a także instytuty badawcze: Instytut Metalurgii i Inżynierii Materiałowej PAN, Instytut Katalizy i Fizykochemii Powierzchni PAN.
Kierunek inżynieria materiałowa posiada akredytację Polskiej Komisji Akredytacyjnej. Corocznie kierunek inżynieria materiałowa znajduje się na pierwszym lub czołowych miejscach Rankingu Szkół Wyższych. W roku 2019 kierunek Inżynieria Materiałowa Wydziału Inżynierii Materiałowej i Ceramiki uplasował się na II miejscu w Rankingu Studiów Inżynierskich czasopisma „Perspektywy”. Zdecydowana większość absolwentów kierunku znajduje pracę w ciągu pół roku od ukończenia studiów.
Zdobyty podczas studiów warsztat pracy (wiedza i umiejętności) stanowią bardzo dobrą podstawę do dalszego rozwoju absolwentów w ramach procesu uczenia się przez całe życie, co jest niezwykle istotnym walorem w tak dynamicznie rozwijającym się i wymagającym, interdyscyplinarnym, obszarze, jaki stanowi inżynierii materiałowa.
