The Space Engineering program is a first-cycle (Bachelor of Engineering) degree program delivered in English, designed to educate specialists capable of designing, integrating, and operating modern space systems. The curriculum covers a broad spectrum of topics related to orbital and planetary engineering, combining solid foundations in science and engineering with advanced, space-specific technical competencies.
The program provides strong fundamentals in mathematics, physics, mechanics, materials science, and computer science, forming the analytical and computational basis required for engineering practice. Building on these foundations, students develop core competencies in space systems engineering, including spacecraft and satellite design, propulsion systems, avionics, power and communication subsystems, flight dynamics, guidance, navigation and control, as well as ground segment and mission infrastructure.
A key characteristic of the program is its system-level and mission-oriented approach, aligned with international space industry standards (including ECSS). Students are trained in verification and validation of both hardware and software components, reliability engineering, mission assurance, and cybersecurity for orbital and ground segments. The curriculum also incorporates modern digital engineering methods, such as modeling and simulation, digital twins, and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in mission planning, data processing, and autonomous space systems.
The program places strong emphasis on practical, laboratory-based, and project-oriented learning. Students participate in design studios, laboratory classes, system integration workshops, and multi-stage engineering projects that reflect real-world space mission scenarios. An obligatory engineering internship provides direct exposure to industrial or research environments, supporting the development of professional engineering competencies.
In addition to technical training, the program addresses human, societal, legal, and ethical aspects of space activities, including mission safety, sustainability of space operations, orbital debris mitigation, space policy, and international cooperation. This ensures that graduates are equipped not only with advanced technical skills but also with an understanding of the broader responsibilities associated with space engineering.
Graduates of the Space Engineering program are prepared to pursue careers in the space sector, including spacecraft and satellite engineering, mission operations, avionics and control systems, space software development, data engineering, and related high-technology industries such as telecommunications, IT, and autonomous systems. The program also provides a solid foundation for further education at the second-cycle (Master’s) level and for engagement in research and development activities in space-related disciplines.
The programme leads to the professional title of Engineer (Inżynier) and fulfils all formal requirements for first-cycle engineering studies in accordance with national and European qualification frameworks.
